Who we are

Borderline Voyage is a travel agency registered in Nigeria, with offices in Lagos, Abuja and Kano. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire, book or travel with us, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. If you have a question about anything in this policy, write to [email protected] or call the head office in Victoria Island.

Information we collect

When you contact us or book a trip we collect the details we need to arrange it. That normally includes your name, phone number, email address, passport details, date of birth, nationality, travel dates and payment records. For visa applications and pilgrimage bookings we also collect the supporting documents the relevant authority requires, which may include bank statements, employment letters, vaccination certificates and photographs. When you use this website we collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which we use to keep the site working and to understand which services people are looking for.

Why we use your information

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare and submit visa applications, book flights, hotels and pilgrimage services on your behalf, take payment, and keep you informed about your booking. Where you have asked to hear from us, we also use your contact details to send travel updates and offers. You can stop those at any time without affecting any booking you have with us.

The lawful basis for processing

We process your information under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Depending on the situation, our lawful basis is one of the following: performance of the contract we have with you, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interest in running the agency, or your consent. Where we rely on consent, such as for marketing messages, you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We share your information with the parties needed to deliver your trip. That includes airlines, hotels, ground handlers, insurance providers, embassies, consulates, visa application centres and the Saudi pilgrimage authorities. We also use service providers for payment processing, email delivery and website hosting. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

International transfers

Arranging international travel necessarily means sending your information outside Nigeria, for example to an airline, a hotel or a consulate in the country you are travelling to. We only send what that party needs, and we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and payment records for as long as we are required to by Nigerian tax and company law, which is currently six years from the end of the relevant financial year. Visa application files are kept for three years, because a previous application is often relevant to the next one. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after two years.

How we protect it

Access to client records is limited to staff who need it for their work, and every account is individually credentialed. Documents are stored on managed systems rather than personal devices, and passports and original documents held at our offices are kept in a locked cabinet with a signed register. No system is completely secure, so we ask that you do not send passport scans or bank details through unsecured public channels. Use the contact details on this site, or hand documents to us in person.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, object to our using it for marketing, and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within thirty days.

We review this policy whenever our practices change and at least once a year. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be announced on this page before they take effect.
